How to pick a Quinceanera Dress

Do you need some tips on how to pick a Quinceanera dress? Picking a dress for your Quinceanera is almost as important as picking your wedding dress. Your Quinceanera is a rite of passage, much like a wedding, and you put some thought and effort into choosing your gown.  Your friends and relatives will probably have their own opinions on how to pick a Quinceanera dress but there opinions might be a little outdated or based on what they like and not what’s best for you. Here are some useful tips on how to pick a Quinceanera dress that’s right for you: 
Color- Pink and White are the traditional colors for a Quinceanera dress. It’s great to choose something traditional but also keep in mind your complexion and skin color.  If neither of those colors looks good on you it’s fine to choose another color. The most important thing is that you look great and are happy on that day so if you are uncomfortable choosing a Pink or White dress choose a color that makes you happy. Try to avoid picking a dress that looks too much like a wedding gown though. 

Style – Picking a dress shape that is right for your body type is critically important. Even though there are a lot of strapless Quinceanera dresses out there remember that strapless dresses usually don’t fit very well and you will be dancing a lot throughout the night. If you don’t want to be tugging your dress up all night don’t wear a strapless stress, or make sure that you have a seamstress alter the dress so that it fits perfectly on top to prevent any slipping and to keep everything where it should be.   

Use basic style guidelines to help you choose a dress.  If you have a boxy body structure then choose a gown that has a tight top and a full skirt to add curves. If you have a curvy body you should pick a dress that skims your curves and doesn’t have a huge skirt or you will look much bigger than you are on the bottom.  If you have a larger chest stay away from empire waist dresses that might make you look much bigger.  When in doubt about what is the best dress for your shape choose a princess cut or an A line cut dress because those look good on most body types.
